SGS Primary Language Week 2025
From 15th to 20th September 2025, our school buzzed with excitement as students and teachers from the primary section came together to celebrate Language Week. Throughout the week, English and Malay lessons transformed into lively sessions of creativity and fun. Classrooms echoed with activity as pupils took part in handwriting competitions, colouring contests, storytelling sessions, arts and crafts, quizzes, scavenger hunts and more—all designed to spark a love for language and expression.
The celebrations reached their grand finale on Saturday, 20th September, when the entire school community gathered for a day of performances and friendly competition. Students arrived in dazzling costumes, each dressed as a favourite book character, bringing beloved stories to life. The day’s programme was thoughtfully split to give every student a chance to shine. Lower Primary events unfolded before break while upper primary students took their turn after break. The Malay Department's activities featured performances, spelling competitions, speeches, and storytelling, while the English department hosted a lively mix of spelling bees, Boggle games, general knowledge quizzes, storytelling, and a Jeopardy-style challenge.
To honour the hardwork and creativity on display, Principal Janidi Jingan and Deputy Principal NM Mubarak presented awards to the Lower Primary winners, while the Head of Primary, Madam Alice Ting, recognised the achievements of the Upper Primary students. The much-anticipated Best Dressed awards capped off the day, with one female and one male student from both divisions proudly claiming the title.
Language Week was a joyful reminder of how words, stories, and cultures bring our school community together. From colourful costumes to spirited competitions, it was a celebration of language and imagination that students will remember long after the week’s final bell.
