St. George's School Won the Choir Competition for Primary Schools Nationwide 2011

Bandar Seri Begawan - St George's School emerged as the champion of the Anti-Drug abuse education choir competition for primary schools nationwide 2011 after achieving a score of 81.07 per cent and defeating another nine schools in the finals yesterday.

Second place went to Kampong Mata-Mata Primary School with a score of 81 per cent, while third place went to Nusa Laila Puteri Primary School with 78.03 per cent.

Tunas Jaya PGGMB Primary School, Lambak came in fourth place while SUAS Muara Primary School came in fifth place.

The Best Lyrics Award went to Dayang Apsah Hj Ibrahim of Pintu Malim Primary School with the song 'Bangsa Tanpa Dadah' or 'A Nation Without Drugs'.

Presenting the prizes to the winners of the competition was Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Yusoff bin Haji Ismail, the Deputy Minister of Education.

Haji Ali Yusri bin Haji Abdul Ghafor, Acting Head of Counselling and Career Section, Department of Schools was also present at the event.

This year's competition differs from the previous years whereby after the choir performances, questions relating to drugs were also posted to the participating teams.

The aim of this was to strengthen the students' knowledge on the dangers of drug abuse.
